This event is invite only! You can find more info here: https://www.womenize.net/
I HAD A TICKET FOR THE FORMER EVENT AND GOT A LOYALTY CREDIT AFTER IT ALL WENT ONLINE. WHAT’S UP WITH THIS IN 2022?
In case you haven’t used your loyalty credit we gave you in 2020 as we had to cancel the on-site event that year yet: it’s still redeemable. This includes the September event or any other upcoming event with tickets. All individuals received an email with information on their personal status. Please browse your inbox for emails from Madeleine and Eventbrite. Please reach out to gamesweekberlin@booster-space.com, if you can’t find it.
HOW ARE YOU ALIGNED WITH A MAZE. / BERLIN, WHICH IS ALREADY HAPPENING IN MAY 2022?
The A MAZE. / Berlin festival took place from May 13-17, 2022. As an hybrid event with a digital exhibition, live concerts and talks in there propriatory A MAZE. / Space. The on-site part of the event is taking place at Silent Green in Wedding, on Tuesday, May 17. We as gamesweekberlin support the organization of the A MAZE. Bazaar – 3rd International Arthouse Games Market. It is meant to be a market for arthouse and controversial independent games and playful media productions which gives authors and artists the opportunity to meet with publishers, funding institutions or future collaborators. The market is running on Monday May 16, online. It includes talks and workshops. Business meetings are arranged via the MeetToMatch platform. In general, A MAZE. is an event partner of the gamesweekberlin family of friends. A MAZE. will have a selected game to play at the exhibition of our event in September 22.
BUT WHY ARE YOU STILL RUNNING THINGS ONLINE?
Some parts happening under the brand of gamesweekberlin are staying online as we want to support our sustainability efforts and reduce our ecological footprint as much as possible. Also hybrid formats give more people around the world the chance to be part of gamesweekberlin. We stick to building the bridges between B2B2C (i.e. business and public) and have inspiring industry talks and gameplay open for all on Twitch – produced in our studio in Berlin Kreuzberg. This offers a wider reach and supports our careers in the games industry support formats. As a positive collateral, we obviously also help condemn the ongoing pandemic as much as possible.
SO DO I NEED TO BE IN BERLIN TO ATTEND GAMESWEEKBERLIN POP-UP AND CASUAL BUSINESS FRIDAY IN SEPTEMBER 2022?
WILL QUO VADIS GAME DEVELOPMENT AND BUSINESS CONFERENCE STILL BE HELD THIS YEAR?
The Quo Vadis game development and business conference (qvconf, or PRO X ), which you usually known as the central part of gamesweekberlin, has slowly migrated into formats and modules of what we today promote as gamesweekberlin. It is not happening as a standalone event anymore. All things content for game designers and businesses are still available for free to access via our Youtube channel. We continuously add videos and recordings there. We also have play and discovery formats streamed live on Twitch. You can read the new formats such as Dev Booster, Womenize! Inspiring Stories and especially the career topics we curate online and on-site as evolutionary spin offs from the original conference. In times of climate crisis, political instability and ongoing pandemics, we decided to refocus on the local and regional industry and offer networking events such as our gatherings, or the political opening event for the makers and shakers behind the scenes. Long story short: there is no conference called Quo Vadis happening anymore, but the spirit of the event continues in content and format modules of gamesweekberlin.
WILL WOMENIZE! GAMES AND TECH BE HELD THIS YEAR AS AN EVENT?
For this year, we have decided to not organize a standalone conference as Womenize! Games & Tech because of the still ongoing pandemic but we will do a networking lunch event during the Casual Business Friday at gamesweekberlin. The networking lunch will be be held by invitation.
Besides that Womenize! concentrates on the interview series Womenize! Inspiring Stories (WIS) which had its Twitch premiere in March this year and there will be some more WIS on Twitch during the year. Stay tuned for Womenize! content here: www.womenize.net.
WILL THERE BE A CAREER DAY THIS YEAR?
No. But on Friday, September 16, we will have some info counters by educational institutions, by companies such as YAGER Development or King. On Saturday we focus on playful interaction but make sure to check out the companies based in Berlin. Most of them are hiring!
HOW DO YOU ENSURE A SAFE SPACE AT THE EVENT?
We have a Safe Space Policy for all our events, which participants and partners agree to by participating in the event.
It is very important to us that we create an event experience where all participants feel comfortable and welcome. We as organizers are in no way willing to tolerate behavior that discriminates against other people based on appearance, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, physical/mental impairment, origin, age, religion or gaming preferences or the like. Therefore, we also ask all participants to be appropriately attentive and report incidents of this nature directly to the team so that we can act accordingly.
You can find more information about our safe space policy here: https://booster-space.com/safe-space-policy/
YOU PROMOTE GAMESWEEKBERLIN TO BE A GREEN EVENT. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
True that. But we also acknowledge that we cannot avoid any footprint by running gamesweekberlin. All we can do is minimize impact, do our best to help reforestation projects to thrive and first and foremost make a statement and foster public awareness. What we will try to do especially is to avoid any new prints. We will see to upcycle our existing stock of roll-ups, posters and stickers and the likes. We will not incentivize excessive travel and especially not short stopovers and jet-setting. If you want to join us from abroad, please feel invited and welcome! But do consider taking the train, or form car-sharing groups, or take some days of and tour through beautiful Brandenburg, or at least add a couple of days in Berlin to visit Computerspielemuseum, business partners and do other kinds of sightseeing while on the road. We also will have a stand in the so called sustainability zone (follow the trees) where you can donate into growing our forests on gameforest.club. Or use Paypal directly to the donations. Catering will be meat free. Trash avoided as much as possible. And many more activities you can check out on our info page: https://www.gamesweekberlin.com/sustainability/.
